                    PHCC Provides Postnatal Service Across Nine Health Centers


Mothers who undergo normal delivery, without routine medical intervention can now take advantage of post-natal services provided by PHCC at nine health centers across the country. Dr. Hessa Shahbic, Manager of Maternal and Child Health at PHCC stated, “We are delighted to offer post-natal services in our health centers, accessible to mothers who have newly delivered and are registered within PHCC, with priority presented to local citizens. more

PHCC Collaborate with Eid Charity for Awareness Preventative Lectures

Al Wakra Health Centre hold an educational lecture for women on preventative measures and early screening ; Al Wakra Health Center presented a series of awareness lectures for women in collaboration with Eid Charity discussing several topics including early detection of cancer and the necessary measures to take to try to prevent the spread of infections. The lectures also raised the topic of healthy nutritional practices to encourage healthy growth for children and help avoid obesity and diabetes.



Saudi Health Delegation Visits Primary Care’s Umm Slal Health Centre



Engineer Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Al Saloum, Director of Business Environment Development at the Ministry of Health Saudi and several high ranking healthcare officials from Saudi visited primary healthcare’s Umm Salal Health Centre. Dr. Maryam Abdul Malek, Managing Director of Primary Healthcare welcomed the delegation, accompanying them on a tour of the center. The visit follows collaborations between Qatar and Saudi to discuss and share ways to enhance cooperation in the field and facilitate exchange of know-how, manpower and expertise, specifically with regards to health and wellness services in which Qatar is the first country in the region to offer these services in accordance with international health standards.more


Primary Healthcare Qatar launches SMART, a preventative medicine and screening service

SMART will be operating as a pilot service in Leabaib and Rawdat Al Khaial Health Centers


Dr. Samya al Abdulla- Executive Director of Operation Department in PHCC  revealed the launch of the pilot operation SMART, a preventive medicine and screening service which was showcased at The World Innovation Summit for Health back in November 2016.  SMART health checks proactively invite the community to attend screening and health maintenance appointments to ensure targeted support is provided to individuals to prevent and manage risks for long-term health conditions such as diabetes. more

PHCC Urges Qatar to Continue Battle for Cancer Awareness

by Promoting Early Screening


The Primary Health Care Corporation has urged Qatar medical professionals to continue their efforts in spreading cancer screening awareness highlighting the importance of early screening during the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) Annual Conference. Speaking at the two day conference held at the Doha Sheraton, Dr Shaikha Abu Shaikha, Cancer Program Manager at PHCC, noted that while there had been significant advancements across Qatar in the field of screening and awareness, there was still a lot to be achieved.


                        The PHCC Helps 195 People to Quit Smoking

Dr. Wadha Al Baker: the Corporation has an incentive program for those who want to quit smoking.


The PHCC has revealed its success in helping 195 people to quit smoking, from 604 people has visited the Quit Smoking clinics, in health centers, during the first the second and third quarter of this year, noting that this number is very important, where one from three smokers has succeed in quitting smoking for six months at least. The Corporation has explained that the age of most smokers who visit the clinic between 18 and 30 years old, and a large number of them has quitted smoking, by 35 to 40%.more


                      Adolescent-Friendly Health Service Launched within 3 of the PHCC HCs  



The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has begun implementing an adolescent-friendly health service in select health centres (HCs), namely Al Rayyan, West bay and Madinat Khalifa HCs, aiming at improving health outcomes for adolescents through the prevention and management of identified risk factors such as accidents, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), risky behaviours, mental health and adolescent reproductive health.  The adolescent-friendly health service is among the priorities of the National Primary Health Care Strategy (NPHCS).more

The PHCC takes its Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign to Qatar’s Shoppers


The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is leading a month long campaign across Qatar’s leading malls in recognition of the international Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As part of its goal to reach a wider audience and significantly increasing the level of knowledge and awareness among Qatari population about breast cancer, PHCC will install Activation Booths at four of Qatar’s most popular malls during the month of October, with the intention to engage with shoppers at the high footfall locations.more

Doha, Qatar – 2 October, 2016: During October,


The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is hosting a number of activities for Breast Cancer Awareness Month across key locations in Qatar aimed at further raising the profile of early screening and spreading knowledge about it. According to the Ministry of Public Health, among the top malignant primary sites of cancer in Qatar and as per 2014 figures, breast cancer accounted for 17.42 per cent while colon cancer made up 10.55 per cent. As far as the age group of female breast cancer incidence, the ages of 45-49 years showed the highest incidence at 16.2 per cent.more


                                  Vaccination for Hajj

Dr. Khalid Al Awad has stressed on the importance of taking the required Vaccinations for the People Wishing to Perform Hajj to Avoid communicable diseases.

The PHCC has invited the citizens and residents who wish to perform Hajj this year to go to the health centers of PHCC to take the necessary vaccinations, in order to prevent the Communicable Diseases, such as meningitis, pneumonia and seasonal flu. ReadMore Dr. Khalid Al Awad- Head of Communicable Diseases department in PHCC- has stressed on the “Importance of taking the necessary vaccinations, because of its significant role in the prevention of the risk of spreading the infectious diseases, as a result of congestion. It is also necessary to follow the recommendations and guidelines for health and safety, such as hand hygiene and cough etiquette.

 He also has called to the ‘The need to take these vaccinations 10 days prior to  traveling date  to ensure the effectiveness of vaccines in terms of its ability to give the body's adequate immune against the disease, and to enable the their immune system to create the necessary antibodies to defend the body. He also has added that the available and useful vaccines that pilgrims are advised to obtain is  the influenza vaccine including pregnant women ,  children under 5 years, the elderly and people with special health conditions such as: asthma, Neurological disorders, chronic lung disease, heart disease, blood disorders, endocrine disorders such as diabetes, kidney disorders, liver disorders, metabolic disorders, iimmunocompromised patients, people under 19 years old and taking aspirin and cases of obesity.


He also has mentioned that MVP, is mandatory for pilgrims and children above two years, and not mandatory for infants and children less than two years, and not mandatory for pregnant women. Both vaccines have no side effects.  The vaccination against pneumonia (pneumococcal) for people between the ages of 18 and 70 years is also available. Al Awad has concluded by advising the Hajj who has high temperature or cough to go to the nearest health center or the doctor who accompanying to the Hajj campaign.   




The Primary Health Care Corporation also will launch and within the national strategic plan for health an awareness campaign through the media and the means of social communication "Facebook, Twitter, Anstaqram", include the provision of many medical advice  for citizens and residents who intend to go to the holy land to perform Hajj, which aims at raising health awareness by following healthy habits and behaviors that protect against infectious diseases.

The corporation aims at raising awareness and educating pilgrims who need to take care of health and safety in order to avoid transitional (communicable) diseases, where the health of the citizens and residents of Qatar is priority for PHCC.





               Alternative of Al-Muntazah Health Center and open New HC with Wellness Services

               Minister of Public Health inaugurated Rawdet Al-Khail Health and Wellness Center


The Minster of Public Health Dr. Hanan Al-Kuwari inaugurated Radwt Al-Khail Health Center in the presence of Managing Director of PHCC Dr. Mariam Abdulmalik and number of staff in health sector and medical staff in PHCC. Dr. Hanan Al-Kuwari confirmed that the ministry program include many of the construction and development projects for continuance advancement of primary health care in Qatar, whether by building new health centers or renewing the current ones. Dr.Hanan pointed out that the center is equipped with all the requirements of which it can provide a distinct level of health and medical services in an optimally. Also Dr.Al-Kuwari added that the new health centers is part of an ambitious strategy seeks to promote public health, and raise the quality and efficiency of health services, according to the latest global systems. Her Excellency toured and listened to a brief explanation about the health center services provided to patients in Rawdet Al-khail Health Center, which includes public clinics, vaccination clinic ,non – communicable diseases clinics,  laboratory , Pharmacy , Radiology ,Dental Clinic, Medical Commission and other new services such as Ophthalmologist  services , Dermatology , mental health clinics, and health and wellness services. Her Excellency also expressed congratulated the people on the opening of Radwet Al-Khail Health Center and thanked Asghal which has built a new center.

Dr. Mariam Abdulmalik –Managing Director of PHCC said, Rawdet Al-Khail is another trophy added to PHCC’s achievements in the development and improvement of health care provided to citizens and residents, where the center provides medical services of a very high and sophisticated level according to international medical standards. She added that Rawdet Al-khail health center is determined to help people on how to live a healthy life style. Rawdet Al-khail provides physiotherapy sessions, food consulting and lessons of healthy cooking and health promotion and other services. Dr.Mariam explained that the center is part of the development plans that primary health care corporation, works to activate at various levels investigated to see a national strategy  and vision for Qatar aimed at improving the individual and the community health.

Dr.Abdullah Al-Nama – the Manager of Rawdet Al-Khail Health Center pointed that “the health center uses the Electronic Files System CIS from the first day of the center opening and offers the services through appointment system. Dr. Abdulla added that the  center includes a medical team of up to 39 doctors, 85 nurses and 38 administrative staff. Rawdet Al-Khail  HC’s capacity reaches up to 150,000 patients ,also the center will cover  the areas: Freij Abdul Aziz - Freij Ben Mahmoud, Al-Najma -Almansourh  and Almentzh . The Working hours of the health center will be from seven in the morning until eleven pm, seven days a week.
